Oggi è stato presentato un nuovo chip grafico dstinato al mercato mobile, la caratteristica saliente del nuovo prodotto sta nell'elevata programmabilità consentita.

SANTA CLARA, CA—JUNE 24, 2003—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today introduced the NVIDIA Quadro® FX Go700 mobile workstation graphics solution. Designed for professional users who demand exceptional performance and flexibility, the NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 is the first mobile workstation solution to bring the power of full programmability to market—allowing engineers and artists to accurately represent real-world material characteristics, such as corrosion between metals or highlighted human hair, in real-time within application software.

The NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 is available immediately from Dell™ in the Dell Precision™ M60 mobile workstation.

“NVIDIA has been instrumental in generating market interest and demand for mobile workstations, as evidenced by the steady ramp in its shipments,” said Kara Yokley, manager of workstation research at IDC. “With increases in graphics performance and the new programmability of the NVIDIA Quadro FX architecture, NVIDIA is enabling new classes of professional applications including automobile styling and film production to capture the attention of even the most demanding workstation users.”
NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 programmability is exposed through Cg, a C-like high-level programming language developed by NVIDIA. Using Cg, major computer-aided design and digital content creation software application vendors—including Alias|Wavefront, Digital Immersion, Discreet, Softimage, and SolidWorks—have incorporated into their applications the hardware rendering capabilities found in the NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700.

“The NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 is armed with fully programmable graphics pipelines allowing designers using SolidWorks 2004 [to be released in August] to simulate real-world material characteristics such as the physical surface properties of plastic or metals,” said Antony Hervo, hardware partner manager at SolidWorks. “This makes ‘industrial realism’ part of the real-time design process. With NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700, designers no longer have to sacrifice quality or performance when they are away from the office.”

The NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 is backed by an extensive professional application certification program and features the industry’s only true 128-bit floating-point frame buffer, 12 bits of subpixel precision, and parallelized vertex engines to deliver high performance for professionals in mission critical environments.

“We’re seeing major manufacturing houses move their design engineers from desktop platforms to mobile workstations powered by NVIDIA graphics solutions,” said Jeff Brown, director of workstation product management at NVIDIA. “Designers love the mobility that these workstations provide. With NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700, they can take their most complex designs to factories, suppliers, and meeting rooms to better explain their work. This capability improves quality and shortens time to market.”

Like all NVIDIA graphics solutions, the NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 uses the NVIDIA Unified Driver Architecture (UDA), a set of backward and forward, top to bottom compatible graphics drivers that optimize application performance, stability, and reliability.
