<br><blockquote><i>Taipei, Taiwan June 24th 2004 - Gigabyte Technology today announced the release of its latest version of Smart Setup wireless router software that will make wireless connectivity and security an incredibly easy task for consumers who use Gigabyte wireless routers. All Gigabyte wireless broadband router models – GN-BR404W, GN-B49G and GN-G41G – will have Smart Setup III with SCT technology built-in, giving users the ability to setup the router and a secure wireless network within a matter of minutes. Plus, since Smart Setup III comes pre-installed on the router, users won’t have to fumble around installing software from an installation CD, nor will they have to push a button to setup a secure wireless network! <p>
Instant Wireless Network Security<br>
Once a Gigabyte router is connected to a cable/ADSL modem, powered on and then a Gigabyte wireless adapter is installed on a computer, a user is merely seconds away from creating a secure wireless network. Simply select the Gigabyte router from the list of available networks in the Configuration Utility window and Smart Setup III prompts the user to enter a self-defined security key (alphanumeric, max. 63 characters). In less than 10 seconds, the Gigabyte router registers the computer on the network by establishing Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA) keys at both ends of the connection, and all data sent/received is encrypted. Smart Setup III is interoperable with Gigabyte’s family of wireless adapters only, although wireless adapters from other vendors will be able to access the wireless network only after configuring the same security parameters. <p>
No-fuss, Automatic Router Connectivity<br>
Having setup robust encryption and authentication for the wireless network, Smart Setup III will now automatically proceed to detect the ISP service type (PPPoE, Dynamic IP or Static IP) and display a window accordingly. Smart Setup III will then prompt the user to enter basic ISP account information, such as account name and password – and that’s it! No further settings, no further ‘wizard’ prompts. Only Gigabyte routers deliver a simple, user-friendly solution for users to setup their wireless router and create a secure wireless network in one step, allowing them to share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection quickly and effortlessly. <p>
Smart Setup III with SCT will come pre-loaded on all Gigabyte wireless broadband router models shipped (GN-BR404W, GN-B49G and GN-G41G) beginning July 15, 2004.
