Shuttle Inc. - the world’s leading
manufacturer of Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs and accessories – announces the launch of a new product to redefine what users expect from a silent PC.

“Whether it’s an office workstation, a home server or a home theater system, a silent PC solution offers numerous tangible benefits over a standard PC,” explained Shuttle global marketing representative, Johnny Tsai, “With the XPC Barebone SD11G5, Shuttle has created a silent PC system that meets the price and technical simplicity needed to be a success in the mainstream market.”

To bring silent computing to the mainstream, Shuttle designers followed one well-known rule: KISS (Keep it Simple, Silent) aiming for a silent PC solution that simply delivers, even to users new to this enthusiast group. Traditionally, customizing a PC for silence involves premium-priced after market components and time consuming research and modifications, but the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD11G5 comes equipped with many of these optimizations built in. Utilizing a single fan design coupled with Shuttle’s patented ICE heat-pipe technology, the system offers efficient cooling of internal components with very little of the associated noise.

Notebook PC technology has been harnessed in the form of Intel’s low-heat, high-performance mobile processors, the Pentium M and Celeron M series, and the whole system is powered by a noiseless 220W external power supply from Shuttle using SilentX technology. Testing of the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD11G5 configured with standard PC components reveals that the system produces less than 24dB of noise.

However, impressive as this seems, Shuttle acoustic technician Jason Chen expects that experienced PC enthusiasts, when using carefully selected components, will be able to reach levels even lower. As daily life becomes more and more saturated with noise and distractions, investing in a workspace that offers an escape and a place to relax can have a positive
benefit on health and productivity.

The Shuttle XPC Barebone SD11G5 will soon be available worldwide, and carries a MSRP of 416 Euros (without VAT.)
