The Sharkoon Flexi-Drive XC features a convenient, compact housing with a USB connection on one end and an integrated memory card slot on the other. When a flash card is inserted, the Flexi-Drive functions as a card reader, or as a high transfer rate USB stick with a memory capacity corresponding to the card used. Simply remove the memory card from the end device, insert it into the Flexi-Drive's card slot, and then plug the Flexi-Drive into one of the computer's USB ports. The memory card data are immediately accessible.

The Flexi-Drive XC is also small enough to fit easily into any pocket. The Flexi-Drive XC, which until now was only available for SD and MMC format media, is now also available in three additional versions for use with Memory Stick Duo and PRO Duo, mini Secure Digital, and TransFlash/micro Secure Digital formats respectively. The Sharkoon Flexi-Drive XC-MS is constructed from black plastic and compatible with Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo type cards, which are typically found in digital cameras, camcorders, PDAs, mobile phones, MP3 players, and notebooks (mainly those produced by Sony). MS PRO Duo cards are also used in the Sony Portable Play Station. The Flexi-Drive XC-MS measures 67 x 25 x 12 mm and weighs 14 g. The Sharkoon Flexi-Drive XC-MSD, designed for use with miniSD cards, has a more open look in a housing of transparent plastic.

It measures 65 x 23 x 11 mm and weighs in at 14.5 g. Miniature format miniSD cards are found in mobile phones, for example from the manufacturers BenQ, Fujitsu, LG Electronics, and Panasonic. The Flexi-Drive XC-TF for microSD/TransFlash cards also has a transparent plastic housing, and has a handy compact size of only 63 x 20 x 12 mm with a minimal weight of 12 g. TransFlash cards are also found predominantly in mobile phones, for example in the current models from Motorola, Samsung, and Nokia. All Flex-Drive XC models support USB 2.0 and 1.x as well as Plug&Play and are equipped with an LED access lamp. A carrying strap with a mini-carabiner hook can be used to attach the stick securely to a key ring. The caps of the XC-MSD and XC-TF models are also attached to the carrying strap, making them virtually impossible to lose. The Flexi-Drives are compatible for use with the Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP and Mac OS9.1/OS X operating systems.

The drivers needed for use with Windows 98SE are available for download on the Sharkoon website. A set of instructions is also in the package. No memory card is included in delivery.
