Rhythm & Hues Studios con nVidia Quadro FX

LONDON — DECEMBER 8TH, 2004 — NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced that Rhythm & Hues Studios has standardised its digital production pipeline on NVIDIA Quadro® FX products. Over 500 digital content creation workstations in this leading-edge facility have already been equipped with NVIDIA Quadro FX boards, enabling some of Hollywood’s best digital artists to make the most of their 3D effects, animation and rendering applications.

“When looking to standardise on a graphics solution, I really wanted a vendor that knows we are a highly customised environment, would depend on their support and be assured that they would come in and really help,” said Mark Brown, VP Technology for Rhythm & Hues. “I felt that NVIDIA had the manpower and the skills to do that. We've certainly seen this to be the case."

NVIDIA Quadro FX products became the standard at Rhythm & Hues after an extensive evaluation of the available professional 3D graphics solutions. NVIDIA and PNY Technologies, exclusive channel distributor for NVIDIA Quadro products in the US and Europe, clearly demonstrated the benefits and competitive advantages of a top-to-bottom graphics solution for this studio environment.

A number of factors led to Rhythm & Hues’ decision to use NVIDIA Quadro FX products as the standard production graphics solution, displacing the previous competitive products.

First-rate Linux support and the NVIDIA Unified Driver Architecture

“With other vendors, Linux drivers lag well behind their Windows drivers in supporting the leading edge features of the graphics boards,” continued Brown. “The NVIDIA unified drivers are always right there, right on and supporting the latest, greatest features.” The Unified Driver Architecture allows Rhythm & Hues to deploy and quickly upgrade an array of different software applications and hardware configurations – and to support them all with a single driver.

"Rhythm and Hues’ advanced production pipeline has always allowed their artists to achieve groundbreaking visual effects,” said Beth Loughney, general manager of the NVIDIA Digital Film Group. “The NVIDIA Quadro FX product line and our unparalleled support will give their IT team a platform with greater flexibility, translating into more mind-bending creativity from their artists.”

Since its founding in 1987, Rhythm & Hues has been one of the most sought after studios for its visual effects and post production work found in Hollywood feature films including the much anticipated release in 2005 of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and the recent movies ‘Garfield’ and ‘Daredevil.’ Projects in production include ‘The Ring 2,’ ‘Flight of the Phoenix’ and ‘Elektra.’ The company’s 70,000 sq. ft. facility houses a state of the art production pipeline built around a varied mix of off-the-shelf and internally developed tools are used by more than 700 artists and staff for everything from modelling and animation to rendering.
