Official: Diego signed the contract with Juventus of Turin and will move to Italy
TURIN - The Brazilian midfielder Diego will wear the shirt of Juventus next season. The player is in Italy and signed the contract with the "Old Lady" on Monday, after a series of meetings and conversations with directors of the club. This Tuesday, the documentation of Diego - who has dual citizenship, Brazilian and Italian - will be sent to join the league of Italian football. The team of Turin was already talking with Werder Bremen and Diego since few months. The 24 y.o midfielder is pleased with the positive end of the negotiations.
"I am very happy and excited. I always have an admiration for the Italian championship and now I can be a part of this competition. The Juventus is a great team, a team of tradition and with many titles. I hope to help to raise more cups", said the player. "I have received lots of support and affection from Italian fans and I know that my adjustment here will be peaceful. I am happy and I want to return that affection by presenting a nice football. I know that I will play with joy here in Italy", said.
Before making the bags to move to Italy, the player has a final compromise with Werder Bremen. He will dispute the final game of the Cup of Germany, on 31st , in Berlin, against Bayer Leverkusen. "I will close my story with Werder raising the cup, to crown the three seasons in Bremen as the team deserves", wish Diego. From Germany, the midfield will take good memories. "There were three great years in my career. I like Werder, I like Bremen and I have a great respect for the German fans. The good times will be marked and I will miss it leaving, but I am a professional of football and I am looking for new challenges", said Diego.
In three years in Germany, Diego has become the reference for Werder Bremen: he is one of the main players of the team. He scored 13 goals in the first and second seasons in the Bundesliga and 12 in the last one, which closed this Saturday, playing, however, just 21 of 34 games. In all, he played 84 games in the German Championship and has scored 38 goals, a very significant number for a player in his position.
