Oltre a supportare la funzione "hot-plug" per la connessione a caldo, il chip aggiunge 8 porte USB2.0 al sistema, Dolby digital 5.1, trasferimento dati V.90 e Ethernet.<p>

Compared with traditional PATA, the size of cables of Serial ATA apparently reduces and consequently consumes less motherboard space.
