SUNNYVALE, CA -- November 24, 2003 --AMD today announced that PC Magazine honored the AMD Athlon™ 64 and AMD Opteron™ processors with the 2003 Award for Technical Excellence in the Components category. The AMD Athlon 64 processor for desktops and notebooks and the AMD Opteron processor for servers and workstations both provide simultaneous 32-bit performance and 64-bit capability based on industry standards.

“This is a big win for AMD, but it’s an even bigger win for customers who can now have the power of screaming 64-bit and 32-bit performance at their fingertips,” said Marty Seyer, vice president and general manager, Microprocessor Business Unit, AMD. “We won PC Magazine’s Technical Excellence Award because thousands of AMD employees never lost sight of what our customers want. We are very proud at AMD and thank PC Magazine and its readers for this incredible award.”

In its 20th year, the PC Magazine awards recognize products and influencers that have pushed the state of technology forward and pioneered new standards for technical innovation in 2003. PC Magazine preferred the AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron processors over rival products in the Components category. All finalists and winners are posted online at http://www.pcmag.com/techex and will be featured in the December 30th issue of PC Magazine.
