This grants us that the HammerÂ’s price will be a number in four digits or a number close to a four digit number. The first Hammer processor, ClawHammer will be released with 1 MB of L2 cache. On Itanium this number is 4 MB. The processor will be able to run WinXP and Linux, since both MS and Linux distributors like RedHat and SuSE are working closely with AMD. Also it is expected that Sun will release a new version of Solaris since it has a code running on x86 architecture. But it is sure that the metamorphosis from 32 bit to 64 bit will be less painful than the one from 16 bit to 32 bits.
