Recensione ECS K7S6A
The performance of the ECS K7S6A was quite a surprise for us. The Content Creation benchmark shows a positive sign about the performance but the results obtained in Quake3, DroneZ indicates that this board is only on par with the fastest boards out on the market right now. The SiS745 DDR333 support is there but running asynchronous mode at 133/166 is not as good as running it synchronously at 133/133. I think we should be able to see much improvements with a better tuned BIOS in the future. Installation is very straightforward, we did not encounter any major hiccups so far. Something we did try was to remove the heatsink. We found the double-sided tape and replace it with thermal paste. It makes the board run better with the aggressive timings.
In conclusion, I find this board good in performance and stable. It's again one of the boards that has the best price/performance ratio. If you are happy with K7S5A, K7S6A would probably be a good choice if you wish to pair it off with a ATA133 RAID card.
