Recensione Tyan Tiger MPX

Accelenation ha pubblicato la recensione della scheda madre dual-CPU Tyan Tiger MPX.

So we know that the Tiger MPX is fast. We know that it will be inexpensive, around $200 online. ItÂ’s stable, and easy to use. It really is the perfect successor to the Tiger MP and Thunder K7 in many ways. The problem lays in the fact that the chipset itself isnÂ’t complete. There are incompatibilities with some 64-bit PCI cards, and the USB is non-existent save for the add-in card Tyan provides. I do know why the board makers released these boards, but I canÂ’t help but think that if you want a few months you will be presented with a very similar board, but one that has a more complete chipset. If you need a board now, which I know many of you do (from the e-mails I get!), then this is definitely an option. Like I said, it is fast, reliable, and inexpensive. If you can wait a few months, I would recommend it. See how the next set of MPX boards do. I am pretty sure Tyan will have one among them. Then, if they donÂ’t make you mad with desire, pick a Tiger MPX up at a reduced price. This board is certainly an improvment over the already great Tiger MP, so it definitely isn't a waste of money!

Tyan has done an excellent job with the chipset they were given. It is just a shame AMD couldnÂ’t finish it before the boards were released. Aside from the problems with the chipset this is an excellent board, and I give credit where it is due. Tyan has always had a way of making incredibley solid boards, even when they had an uphill battle doing it.
