Prototipi Micron DDR400
E dopo Samsung, anche Micron ha rilasciato i suoi prototipi di ram DDR operanti a 400mhz.
Lo standard è ancora il DDR-I.
A week after DDR400 samples of Samsung Electronic Co. were shown at the CeBIT computer show in Germany, Micron Technology Wednesday announced it has shipped its own DDR400 samples targeted for the PC market.
Micron said its 400MHz double data rate chips were delivered to Silicon Integrated Systems for qualification on the Taiwan firm's new SiS648 chipset. Like the Samsung chip, the Micron high speed memory is made to the present DDR-I standard.
The publicity race for DDR400 comes even before the industry has fully validated all parts of the infrastructure -- chips, modules, chipsets and motherboards -- for earlier generation DDR333 chips. It wasn't immediately clear how quickly infrastructure players could move from completing DDR333 validation to start testing and qualifying the even faster DDR400 chips.
DRAM producers for some time have been able to make 400MHz DDR chips. The chips are already used as point-to-point memory in graphics accelerator cards, which don't need the infrastructureassociated with PC parts.
