VIA IS PREPARING TO launch its KT400 chipset in April, although the same doubts surround the DDR 400 "standard" as formerly attended the 333 memory type.
The KT400, as we've indicated here before, will come with AGP 8X and V-link 8X. Samples will be available in April and mass production will follow in the second quarter of this year also.

That may make the DDR 333 memory type a short lived phenomenon, although we detect here at the INQUIRER signs of fear, uncertainty and doubt on behalf of the mobo manufacturers.

Many don't want to mess around with too many types of mainboards, we were told at CeBIT.

However, Via has its supporters and it appears that quite a few mobo makers will give DDR 400 a spin.

There's a but.

A report in Electronic Buyers' News yesterday said that the standards body overseeing these memory types – JEDEC – may not ratify DDR 400. Apparently it's too early for the imprimatur to be delivered on this latest memory type. µ
