What about the real performance though. If you want to compare on a GHz to GHz basis, AMD is still by far the stronger CPU hands down. But will we see AMD scale like the Pentium4? We will only know when we see Thoroughbred cores from AMD here soon. AMD will have the opportunity to gain big ground once again in the marketplace but only time will tell. Overall though, once you get beyond the GHz to GHz comparison in your head and leave it behind, there is no doubt that the Pentium4 Northwood core is a great performer especially for the gamer. I think overclocking Intel CPUs is once again going to move back towards mainstream after their absence for the last year or so. Mix that with more and more software being coded to take advantage of SSE2 instructions and we should see performance gains even possibly without clock speed or bus speed increases.
