x86-64 potrebbe essere la chiave di volta dell'ormai vecchio rumor che vede coinvolti Apple, AMD e MacOS X. A questo indirizzo su The Inquirer si parla proprio di questo:

If Apple is talking to AMD, and at the moment this is just sheer speculation, it could actually benefit both companies big time. AMD still seeks to increase its market share against Intel and for Apple it would solve one or two problems with the PowerPC architecture that its partners seem unable to fix.
