AMD pronta per ClawHammer 3400+ ?
Secondo questo articolo pubblicato da The Inquirer, sembra che AMD abbia già pronta la versione definitiva di ClawHammer, cpu di ottava generazione che sostituirà gli Athlon XP attuali in una fase che durerà per tutto il 2003. La frequenza sembra aggirarsi sui 2.6GHz ma su questo mi riserverei un margine di dubbio: ad ogni modo, la stessa casa di Sunnyvale ha sempre dichiarato "2GHz and over".
AMD Field Application Engineer Stenberg, spouted off for a good fifteen minutes before the debate was opened up to the floor and the audience finally prised something useful out of the AMDer, says eagle-eyed, eared Nico.
Asked about the clock frequency Hammer might appear at, Stenberg, said Hammer would appear sporting a PR rating of 3400+.
Asked what actual frequency that meant, Stenberg replied, "er, over 2GHz." In fact, Nico suggests that Hammer would have to be running at around 2.6GHz to deliver an AMD PR rating number of 3400+.
