The Gigabyte 7VAXP is one of the newest member based on the VIA KT400 chipset and has a strong feature set like USB 2.0, 1394, AGP 8x, ATA133 RAID and 6 channel audio. As time progresses, many manufacturers will adopt similar functionality on their boards. I wouldn't be surprised if Gigabyte were to release an optional S-ATA when S-ATA harddisks are common. I personally felt that Gigabyte did not include it to reduce the overall costs to make it more affordable.
