scusate se ho urlato nel titolo ma nn gli la fo +.........sto cercando di caricare i nuovi driver NVIDIA x la mia 8600gt,ho scaricato il driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.11-pkg2.run e anche i NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.19-pkg2 ma quando faccio sh >drivers> (qualsiasi dei due) mi dice Verifing archive integrity... error in check sums....ho provato con drivers scaricati dall'ufficio e con gli stessi drivers scaricati a casa ma nn cambia nulla....c'è modo di bypassare il controllo d'integrità????

Verifica di effettuare questa operazione con diritti di amministratore e dopo aver fatto un Ctrl+Alt+F1 e dopo aver stoppato la gui (gdm o kde).

la gui è ferma anke x' nn è mai partita(è per questo ke sto cercndo di aggiornare i driver).....ma partiamo dall'inizio:
qualche tempo fa ho cambiato mobo,procio e ram,ho aggiunto un disco sata e dopo aver modificato il grub mepis partiva senza problemi.ho cambiato la scheda video,passando da 2 6600gt ad una 8600gt e da quel giorno la gui nn è più partita dandomi un errore in fase di inizializzazione del video(e grazie,nell xorg c'erano ancora le 2 6600gt).ho provato a modificare l'xorg.conf eliminando la seconda scheda video ed impostando la prima con i driver vesa ma niente da fare,prova a startare la gui e rimane la schermata nera.nel momento in cui riesco a fare partire mepis con la shell(quindi la gui nn è partita) x aggiornare i driver mi da quell'errore....e comunque opero come amministratore.....
....spero di aver spiegato bene il problema....

Con il livecd di Mepis puoi utilizzare gli strumenti di sistema per riparare/ricostruire un xorg funzionante!

The Repair Tab

This tab is intended to be used from the LiveCD. It allows you to copy the automatically generated X configuration from the liveCD onto a hard drive installation of MEPIS. This is useful if you have messed up your X configuration on your hard drive so bad that X will not start, and you're not sure how to get back to a graphical desktop to repair anything.

To use it, first select the hard drive where MEPIS is installed. In the second field, select the partition where "/" is mounted. When you click "OK" or "Apply", X-Windows Assistant will copy the X configuration from the liveCD to the /etc/X11/ folder on the partition you have specified.

This utility is only useful from a hard drive install if you have MEPIS or a similar distribution (such as Ubuntu) on another partition, and you'd like to copy the xorg.conf file from one to the other.

Poi avrai una gui usabile, ma non ancora l'accelerazione 3d, dovrai allora:

Using the nv driver, make sure your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file has good and complete settings for your monitor. If you're not sure, use dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and let it rebuild xorg.conf (BACKUP FIRST). Then be sure no GLX thingie is installed (in Synpatic, search "glx", uninstall COMPLETELY). Then download and install the official nVidia driver and let it update the xorg.conf when it asks (BACKUP FIRST). That's it.

il problema è ke nn mi parte neanke il livecd (mepis 6.5 se nn erro).riesco a far partire ubuntu in live impostando a manina all'inizio la risoluzione del monitor........

Controlla questo topic, alla fine forse c'è la soluzione, prova a far bootare il livecd di Mepis con quelle opzioni:

well here my seeking for trouble ends. Lupismus gave me the idea so today i had some time and here's how i got things working my way.
1. Selected normal boot option (aka the 1st option available)
2. At the end of the boot parameters simply added drvr=vesa res=1280x1024 (your monitor res)
Booted, worked, installed, now hopefully nvidia driver installs else will have to open a new post in video section.

allora:con i 2 modi suggeriti nn parte cmq la gui,ho risolto il problema del check sums ma.....deve scaricare i moduli kernel(se nn erro),e qui nasce un altro problema:io ho fastweb con tutto a consumo e quindi devo prima attivare la connessione e poi potrtei scaricare....ma come faccio se nn ho un browser a disposizione?mi sembra di aver sentito ke esiste un programmello che "traduce" le pagine internet con caratteri "standard" ma nn mi ricordo + il nome,ci sono suggerimenti??thx

Riesci almeno a visualizzare le opzioni di boot del livecd?
Se si prima di premere invio, premi il tasto "F6" e inserisci questi parametri nel kernel di boot:
irqpoll noirqdebug drvr=vesa noapic

E poi dai invio!

sì,sì,le opzioni del livecd le vedo.......appena riesco provo come mi hai detto tu....

Se usi Ubuntu ti conviene usare una live distro base Debian, come ad esempio gNewsense (http://www.gnewsense.org). Comunque per i driver delle schede video è consigliato disinstallare quelli che si hanno prima di installare gli altri, altrimenti si creano conflitti enormi. Non consiglio la copia di xorg.conf di Mepis, ma in caso quella del live cd di cui sopra; in alternativa andare in terminale (come detto prima da CaberNET54 con Ctrl+Alt+F1) e lanciare il comando sudo dpkg --reconfigure xserver-xorg fatto quello rispondere alle domande che fa. Se non si sa cosa rispondere limitarsi a vedere cosa chiede e cosa dà di risposta e dare sempre Invio.

Male che vada installati Automatix che ha anche drivers per NVidia e Ati e te li installa in automatico.
