Presentati i nuovi diver ATI Catalyst 9.3 che supportano Window 7

AMD ha rilasciato i driver grafico ATI Catalyst 9.3 con supporto a tutte le schede della serie ATI Radeon e con  l'introduzione di una nuova versione compatibile con il sistema operativo Windows 7.

ATI Catalyst 9.3 rappresenta quindi il primo pacchetto d'installazione di driver unificato che include il supporto per Windows 7, compatibile con Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM - Windows Display Driver Model) 1.1., in grado di offrire benefici per tutti gli sviluppatori che stanno attualmente testando o aggiornando le proprie applicazioni usando la versione beta di Windows 7.

Oltre alla stabilità dei driver grafici per Windows 7, la combinazione di Windows 7 con la grafica di ATI Radeon permette agli sviluppatori di utilizzare appieno DirectX 10.1 API, usato da Microsoft per realizzare Windows 7 Aero desktop. La grafica con supporto hardware per DirectX 10.1 API, attualmente disponibile sulle serie di prodotti ATI Radeon HD 3000 and ATI Radeon HD 4000, può garantire l'esperienza più completa di Windows 7 Aero desktop, che include, inoltre, la compatibilità di alcune nuove funzionalità come Aero Peek e Aero Shake, entrambe progettate per migliorare la navigazione di Windows 7 desktop.

Performance improvements

  • Lost Planet: Colonies - performance gains of up to 20% were seen on the ATI RadeonTM HD 4800 Series, and performance gains of up to 50% were seen on the ATI RadeonTM HD 4600 Series, ATI RadeonTM HD 4500 Series, and ATI RadeonTM HD 4300 Series of products
  • Unigine Tropics Demo DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 - performance gains of up to 20% were seen on ATI CrossFireX configurations using the  ATI RadeonTM HD 4800 Series of products


New Features

ATI CatalystTM 9.3 - the industries first Unified graphics driver for Windows 7 and Windows Vista

  • AMD has delivered a single unified graphics driver for both Windows 7 and Windows Vista - demonstrating AMD's Windows 7 graphics driver leadership and focus on delivering a stable and robust Windows 7 experience on AMD hardware
  • Delivers full WDDM 1.1 support under Windows 7 on the ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series, ATI Radeon HD 3000 Series, and ATI Radeon HD 2000 Series of products
  • All future ATI Catalyst postings will deliver one single unified driver for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
  •  
    • Please note that the AVIVO Video Converter is not currently supported under Windows 7

ATI CatalystTM 9.3 Folding@Home performance enhancements

  • Using ATI StreamTM technology, owners of the ATI RadeonTM HD 4000 Series, ATI RadeonTM HD 3000 Series, and ATI RadeonTM HD 2000 Series of graphics accelerators will see a performance boost in their Folding@Home scores when running the latest Folding@Home client and upcoming cores in conjunction with ATI CatalystTM 9.3  

 
ATI CatalystTM 9.3 - Windows Vista HDMI audio driver support integrated into all ATI Catalyst 9.3 packages

  • As of ATI Catalyst 9.3 and future ATI Catalyst releases, the AMD Windows Vista HDMI audio driver is automatically included
  • The HDMI audio driver will only be installed if the AMD graphics accelerator has an HDMI display connector and there is no 3rd party HDMI audio driver installed.  

New AMD Display Library (ADL) SDK

  • AMD Display Library (ADL) SDK is designed to access display driver functionality for all ATI Radeon graphics accelerators and FirePro graphics accelerators
  • The SDK supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Linux  - 32 and 64 bit variants
  • The SDK can be used from both unmanaged (C/C++) and managed (C#) applications - samples are provided within the SDK
  • The ADL SDK is available to the public via the Developer relations site

Support for new Linux operating systems

  • This release of ATI CatalystTM Linux introduces support for the following new operating systems: 

o       RedFlag DT 6.0 sp2 production support

o       SLED and SLES 11 support (early look)

ATI Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition - Display Device property page enhancement

  • This release of ATI CatalystTM Linux enables users to configure new display settings within the ATI Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition
    • HDTV mode support (720p, 1080i, 1080p, and custom) for digital displays
    • Color temperature controls for digital displays
    • Hue, Saturation, Brightness, and Contrast color controls for digital displays
    • Digital display controls (Overscan support,  HDMI settings, DVI settings)
